Functional Specification Document for SailFin

New Functionality in SailFin

The Functional Specification document is meant for consumption by Architecture Review Committee, Documentation teams, QE/QA, SEs and other developers who may need to understand the high level workings and interfaces.

Please use this\ template for authoring the functional specification and this\ for providing review comments.

Please refer to author guidelines or reviewer guidelines below for more information.

Guidelines for Authors:

  • The Functional Specification document is meant for consumption by ARCs, Docs, QE/QA, SEs and other developers who may need to understand the high level workings and interfaces. Please use the standard templates given below
  • When the document is ready for review:
    • Send a mail to selected reviewers and dev@sailfin.java.net thread soliciting feedback/comments on the new feature by providing a link to the relevant FS document here. For changes in GlassFish modules, if the module owner is different from the author of the functional specs, the module owner should be included as a mandatory reviewer. List of GlassFish module owners is available in this page.
    • The subject of the thread should say something about the new feature.
    • Change the status to Under Review.
  • The entire review process should be completed within 2 weeks period from the time it is started.
  • At the end of this period:
    • Announce to the identified reviewers and dev@sailfin.java.net thread that the review period is over and update the FS document with all relevant feedback/comments received during this period.
    • Incorporate any feedback that is useful and relevant for this release into the FS document and update it on this page.
    • Change the status to Review Completed

Guidelines for Reviewers:

  • Please use standard template for providing review feedback.
  • Please update this template with your comments and add a link to your reviews in the Reviewer column. Instructions on how to update this page is provided in the review template.
  • Notify the author that the review comments are available.
  • During this period, author is expected to respond to feedback/comments posted by others on the forum.
  • At the end of this period the author will update the one pager with all relevant feedback/comments received during this period.
  • Any feedback/comments received after this period will not be considered for this release.
